When I called the recruitment company, about the role at Redware the recruiter explained the role clearly and promoted Redware as a great company to work for. Stuart at ERG was great, he asked me about my current experience, my current role, why I wasn’t happy and what I was looking for in my next role.
Stuart went on to tell me about the role and the culture at Redware - saying that they are amazing people! Recruiters always often say this to encourage you to go ahead with the process, so I didn’t take much notice. But when I met the team at the interview, I knew he was right – it was a good first meeting.
The interview process was seamless from start to finish and the prestart period was also positive. Kate - Redware’s Head of Central Operations, emailed me almost every week to update me on the status of the process and supplied me with a full induction pack, induction plan for my first week and all required log-in details before I started, this immediately made me feel so welcome.
My induction week From the moment I officially joined Redware I was supported by Kate and given all the company information, policies etc. Kate introduced me to everyone and showed me around so that I didn’t feel alienated. I then started working closely with Alex, my line manager, and he outlined a full induction pack, which mapped out the entire induction week and meetings pre-booked with all individuals in the business to spend time with.
By the end of the week, I understood the business, the processes, and the product. This induction process then gave me the confidence to explore the system myself.
I don’t get nervous or phased but some people may feel anxious about the unknown when starting a new role in a new company, with no understanding of the structure of the business. Kate and the team alleviated any of those anxieties. Everyone has clearly defined job roles, but it feels like we are all working together. It doesn’t matter if it’s one of your responsibilities or not, you do what you need to do to get things done.
Policies Flexible working is great, so convenient to go and do something in the morning if I’m needed to juggle household commitments. I vary my start and finish time, but I always make sure I do the hours I am supposed to do. Many companies have all the buzz words for new employees to tick the boxes for HR, but Redware doesn’t care about ticking the boxes – this is just how the company is!
My friends and family don’t believe me when I tell them I get unlimited holidays. It makes me feel extremely loyal to Redware. I feel like I’m not being treated like a child so I will do my best for the company as in return the company it is doing the best for me.
I can see myself being with Redware for a long time. Everywhere else I have ever worked there has always been an element that has bothered me – work, people, location – haven’t found that here! I’ve been with the company for 3 months but feel like I’ve been here forever (in a good way!). I don’t feel like an outsider or newbie, but one of the gang!
